Philosophy and Goals

Sacred Heart School endorses the call of the Catholic Bishops of the United States to express its educational ministry through the three objectives of personal spirituality, social justice, and a strong academic program in accord with Christian values.  This commitment extends to building Christian community and to fostering Christian service to the whole human family.

Sacred Heart Elementary School is a parish school within the Archdiocese of New York.  We seek to educate the total person – spiritually, intellectually and physically.  Our course of study is deeply rooted in the teachings of Catholicism, and the traditions of the Catholic Church.  Included in this philosophy is love of God, self and others which is promoted in thought, word and deed each school day.  We give our students the opportunity to live what we teach as part of each classroom experience.  Sacred Heart School recognizes the unique gifts and talents of every child with a curriculum that provides for religious education, all New York State learning standards, as well as the approved course of study of the Archdiocese of New York.
