Parish Council

Every parish is strongly encouraged by Canon Law to have a parish council.  Its purpose is to advise the pastor when it comes to matters of the parish and to be a sounding board for initiatives or ideas that the pastor is considering for the parish.  It is not a voting body.  It is strictly advisory.  Its members comprise a cross-section of the parish.  Having a parish council allows for greater participation, allows the pastor to function more effectively, and builds a stronger sense of family.  Each member serves a specific term.  Membership is currently determined by appointment and in the future by nominations.  Parishioners are welcome to attend parish council meetings.
