Legacy Society

The purpose of the Sacred Heart Legacy Society is to educate parishioners on how to prepare wills, trusts, and bequests to the parish. In addition, the Legacy Society sponsors seminars on the economy, investment markets, retirement and other issues affecting parishioners’ financial matters.

Gifting to Sacred Heart Church

In addition to naming Sacred Heart Church in a bequest under your will there are other choices in remembering Sacred Heart Parish that will help carry on the good works you support now as a parishioner into the future. The listing below will give you a brief idea for you to discuss with your attorney.

Charitable Lead Trust

A lead trust is a vehicle for transferring substantial assets to your children or others with the possibility of gift or estate tax savings by permitting the income from the assets to go to Sacred Heart Church for a chosen number of years, after which the assets once again become available to you, your heirs or others.

Charitable Remainder Trust*

A donor creates and funds an irrevocable trust that provides income to the beneficiaries for life, or a term of years, after which the remainder of the trust is distributed to Sacred Heart Church.

Life Insurance

Many times people find that they have more life insurance than they really need. For example, children may be grown and life insurance that was intended to provide education funding is no longer needed. A gift of a life insurance policy, one that is paid up or one with premiums still due, makes an excellent charitable gift. A gift can easily be made by naming Sacred Heart Church as the beneficiary and owner of the policy. Another great idea is to purchase a new policy to give to Sacred Heart Church.

Named Scholarships

Named Scholarships are an excellent way to remember or honor a loved one and guarantee that financially disadvantaged children receive a first-class Catholic education at Sacred Heart School. Please speak with your attorney when reviewing your will and consider creating a scholarship for our school.
