Lectors
The lector serves a unique role in the liturgy. It is Jesus himself who speaks in the Scriptures. The lector in proclaiming the Scriptures, uses voice, presence, and personality so that the Word of God may be heard. "Faith comes by hearing," says St. Paul.
These individuals serve the community be proclaiming the first and second readings, and by offering the prayers of general intercession. One called to be a lector must be trained in reading and proclaiming the Word clearly and expressively to the people. If your special gift is public speaking and you are a confirmed teen or adult, we invite you to become a lector or reader. You will receive training and be asked to serve about once a month at a Mass of your choice. For this week's schedule, refer to the Bulletin.
